Welcome to Wedding Cinema Academy, formerly Wedfilm Academy. We are here to aid event filmmakers in producing films for their couples worthy of being showcased in their local cinema. Throughout the site you will find hundreds of hints and tips, in depth tutorials and behind the scenes videos filmed from our travels across the globe.
We sincerely hope you enjoy the experience and please subscribe to get the latest industry info.
My name is Pete, I’m the co-founder of Wedfilm Academy, alongside Richard Wakefield. I have been asked many times where my inspiration comes from, it’s simple, in a word – Cinema. I was fortunate enough to have a Mum who worked at the local Cinema which enabled me to frequent the movies fortnightly for over 25 years, until it closed in 2003, which coincidently was when I started my first Wedding film Business.
I have been filming Weddings for almost 10 years now and have been fortunate enough to film them in some of the most romantic and exotic locations across the globe, from St Paul’s Cathedral, London to Cirigan Palace, Istanbul and many more inbetween.
I started Wedfilm Academy with Richard as we both attended a Photography exhibition, where we were both overwhelmed by the amount of training on offer to Photographers of all levels of ability. This spurred us on to start the first online tutorial training for Wedding film makers.
It proved to be quite a time consuming year, as I was still filming over 40 Weddings when we started in 2010, so my resources were rather stretched. I took more of a back seat in the business and changed my business model and spent 6 months in Thailand and Richard carried on the brand. Richard is now concentrating on the 1 to 1 training side of the company now as I carry on with the tutorial side.
I still film around 15 Weddings per year, mainly abroad and whilst I am in the UK I mainly film for other companies as a second shooter or Jib operator.
I plan on making at least one programme every week to be aired on a Tuesday, they will be both fun and informative staying on topic and deviating every now and again, I hope you stick around to see the site progress, and thanks in advance for your support, all I ask in return is that you share the videos when and where you can.
